It is great to hear from you Michael. You probably know Steve who posted about your great grandfather. I assume that he would be your uncle.
Albert Edward Heming was the brother to my Grandmother, Dorothy Sparkes(nee Heming)She married George Sidney Sparkes. She was born I believe in London and moved to Hucknall, Nottingham during the war. I seem to think there was a brother who was a Captain in The Salvation Army.I believe his name was Jack. My Grandmother had three sons Sidney George Sparkes (my Father, now deceased, Born March 1919) Ernest, Joseph, Daughters, Katherine(known as Edie),Ivy,and May.I remember as a child reading of his rescue of a priest. I believe this article was in the then “Daily Herald” This must have been over fifty years ago as I am now 63 Years old.”Arcacia Road” seems to register in my memory of stories told by my Grandmother. I would be very interested to hear of any history of my Great, Great, Uncle Albert or any family history. John sidney Sparkes
