Three of my ancestors in Albemarle County, Virginia signed a petition there during the Revolutionary War, 1 November 1776. They were JOHN JAMESON, THOMAS CRAIG and MICAJAH VIA. I have written a treatise of why I consider them to be American patriots because of their signatures. Albemarle County Patriots

Was James related to Hannah Jameson who was married to Daniel “Saddler” Maupin? Also did Thomas Craig have a sister who was married to John Maupin? If so I think they are my ancestors as well. I am trying to put these puzzles together. I only have a Mrs. Craig as the wife of John.
Jan – I cannot help you. Some report that John Maupin married Sally Craig, but I do not know who she is or anything about their marriage
hello. i am thos ballard1—thomas ballard 2 — gabriel maupin3 (m.anne thomas ballard2)—john maupin (m. Betsy Mills, dau of Henry Mills of albemarle cnty, va)—austin maupin—susan maupin—-wm price wright—maureen wright—sally swan. i do know that the craig family married into the maupin family of wmsburg, va. thos craig was in business w/ gabriel maupin3(who owned market square tavern in wmsb-one of wmsbrg’s 88 original bldgs), as well as several other businesses there, one a saddlery/harness business w thos. craig. another craig there was the doctor in wmsbrg. if you enter thomas craig/gabriel maupin as a search, these names come up. hope this may help.
john maupin is the most common maupin surname, 2nd only to gabriel, i think. in 1850 a john maupin was mayor of wmsbrg. my john is the son of thos. ballard 2(i am only numbering american maupins/ballards, not those fr worchester cnty/kent cnty england).
thank you, neddy, for this wonderful info. i copied all of it, as the Vias and Maupins are my family. the craigs(thos.) were related by marriage. you are to be complimented for your contribution. now i know the Via’s were religious liberty patriots, as well. cannot thank you enough.
